Sherwood/Red Oak

We are still working on details of our Sherwood – Red Oak – Edgewood club.  Here’s our notice from last year:

The Sherwood – Red Oak – Edgewood club meets at Sherwood on Mondays from 3:20-5:00 pm until the end of April.  The club is supported in part by the Sherwood PTO, and is run by Kara Friedman.

The club offers instruction at advanced, intermediate and beginning levels and last year had approximately 40 members.  It has distinguished itself in competition, winning several of the district-wide tournaments, and its 4th-5th grade team captured sixth place at the Illinois State Scholastic Championships.

The coaching staff is headed by Eric Rosen, a senior at Niles North High School who is the reigning U.S. high school chess champion.  Eric will be joined this year by Gavin McClanahan, another top junior player in Illinois and member of the state’s elite Warren Junior Scholar chess program.

For more information, contact Kara at 312-451-8564 or at kfriedman@polsinelli.com. The annual fee is $80.
