Mentors

In our Mentors program, adult chess-players in the community volunteer to coach students in the adults’ homes in the evenings or on weekends.  Mentors are asked to host approximately six lessons of approximately an hour each.  Parents usually attend.  A curriculum and teaching tips are supplied.  Students range from beginners to advanced.  Mentors will be screened by the chess committee and will undergo routine security checks required by the district for all volunteers.  Anyone interested should contact Jerry Neugarten at jerryn@statetel.com or at 847-831-2435.
